It is finally here…the day of the big horse ride! We wake up to a perfect clear day. Hannah gives me a constant update of the time. We need to go now! Dave stays with the boys on the playground and we head off to the stables. I’m a little nervous, as the last horse I rode kept trying to run me into trees.
Hannah pets every horse in sight. They bring out our horses: Lightening for Hannah, Cody for Mom, and Sushi for Tatum. We’re the only ones on this ride, so it’s just us and our guides. Tatum looks scared to death on her cute white horse. Hannah’s horse is black and grey. We enjoy a calm ride for about an hour on a serene trail in Palmer Gulch. My horse seems okay with me, though she has an affinity for rubbing her belly on small trees and taking me with her. Nothing too scary and I survive. Lightening likes to snack on grass, so Hannah has to use all her might to pull his head up and get him back on track. The girls are pros by the end.
We hop in the motorhome and head off to Wyoming for our trek to Yellowstone. It’s farther than we’ve realized, so we’re trying to get some miles under our belts. The scenery is a bit, well…flat. We’ve heard it is a bit cold in Yellowstone and in front of us, we see the mountains, blanketed in snow. “Is that where we’re going?” I ask Dave. “Yep”. We may be buying some sweatshirts!
